Summer or Winter? The Olympic Games are held every two years in different cities around the world. After Paris, the next Olympics are the 2026 Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy. In 2028, the Summer Olympics return to the United States and will be held in Los Angeles. Decide which experience you want – colder climate or warmer weather – and which location you prefer – overseas or closer to home!

Connect with a Travel Agent. Planning a big trip around a major event can feel overwhelming. Experienced travel agents can walk you through the process. Flights are released 11 months out, so if you’re considering the Italy Olympics in February 2026, you won’t be able to book flights until March 2025. Lodging may be one of your biggest expenses. Some countries – including Italy – require it. AAA is the only entity in the U.S. authorized by the State Department to issue an IDP. But don’t apply for one too early: IDPs can’t be issued more than six months in advance of your trip.
