The first snow of the season has come to Central New York, reminding motorists to prepare their vehicles for the winter. AAA Western and Central New York advises all motorists to get their car batteries checked now, in advance, to avoid a breakdown when cold mornings are here to stay. To show appreciation for AAA members, the AAA Travel & Insurance Center in DeWitt is offering members free battery tests!

Dates: December 1st, 8th, and 15th
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Location: AAA – DeWitt Travel & Insurance Center, 3460 Erie Blvd. East, DeWitt, N.Y. 13214

An average car battery typically lasts three to five years. Car batteries are more likely to fail in extended frigid temperatures in our region. Don’t get stranded! Be proactive and have your battery checked now.
If you hear a grinding, clicking or buzzing when you turn the ignition on or if your headlights dim when you are idling, but brighten when you rev the engine, you most likely have a battery problem — especially if your battery is more than three years old.

Can’t make it out? AAA Mobile Battery Service is available! Battery service trucks are equipped to test and install batteries at any location convenient to the motorist — at home or a workplace for free as part of AAA membership. Battery service is available in most areas but may not be offered in all areas. Learn more at www.AAA.com/Battery.
