A fresh start for your car

If you drove through this past winter in New York State, your car is probably due for some attention. Get your car running and looking great all spring and summer long with these five car care tips.

1 Test your car battery

There is often no warning of your battery dying. Avoid finding out the hard way by scheduling a free battery check with a AAA Battery Service Technician. They can come to your location to run a full system test on your battery. If it needs to be replaced, the technician can replace your battery on the spot! To schedule a battery inspection, visit AAA.com/Battery, or call (800) 222-4357.

AAA Premium Batteries are now available at NAPA AUTO PARTS. Get your discounted AAA battery without the service call.

2 A good wash and easy replacements

Salt, snow, and ice can wreak havoc on your car, and a buildup of salt on your vehicle can lead to rusting or corrosion. You can take your car to the local car wash or spray it down with a hose in the driveway. Don’t forget to inspect your car’s interior!

3 Replace your wiper blades

Wiper blades that are skipping and malfunctioning can impair vision on the road. Most wiper blades are recommended for replacement every six months. After facing the winter cold, snow, and ice, your wiper blades may be due for a change.

4 Check your fluids

Now that the weather will be getting warmer, schedule an oil change to prepare your engine for a season of road trips. This is also an opportunity to check your car’s transmission fluid level and refill if needed.

5 Check your tire pressure

Using a tire gauge, check the pressure on your tires and compare it to the recommended tire pressure found in your owner’s manual or on the sticker typically placed inside the driver’s door. If you have a tire in need of some extra air, many gas stations have air pumps available, but in a pinch, you can even use a bicycle pump.
